The wisdom of Buddhist women

The contribution of women to Buddhist teaching and understanding is recognised in a recent book, The Hidden Lamp.  One hundred women from round the world were invited to provide their own commentaries on some of the traditional stories of Buddhist women - nuns and laywomen - who have lived, thought and meditated over the past 2500 years. The commentaries include one by Bristol Chan Group member Hilary Richards, who is also a Western Chan Fellowship Teacher. The result is a moving and instructional insight into the often unacknowledged contribution made by women to Buddhist thinking and wisdom over the centuries.
